Privacy Policy

Effective Date: February 15, 2026  ·  Last Updated: March 21, 2026

The Short Version

Propagation Journal stores your data on your device and in your personal iCloud account. We don't operate servers or collect personal information. We collect anonymous analytics to improve the App, and crash reports and anonymous purchase records are handled by third-party services. Your data is yours.

1. Introduction

Propagation Journal ("the App") is developed and maintained by Sardorbek Rakhimov, an individual developer. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and protected when you use the App.

By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age.

2. Information We Collect

Data You Create

The App allows you to track plant propagation by creating cuttings, plants, progress entries, reminders, and photos. This data is:

  • Stored locally on your device in the App's private storage
  • Synced to your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit, if you are signed into iCloud on your device
  • Never transmitted to our servers — we do not operate any servers, databases, or backend infrastructure

Photos you add are stored on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account (if iCloud is enabled). They are never transmitted to our servers or any third-party service.

Crash Reports

We use Sentry to collect crash reports when the App encounters errors. Crash reports may include:

  • Stack traces and error messages
  • Device model, operating system version, and app version
  • Diagnostic breadcrumbs (general UI lifecycle events)

Crash reports do not include your plant data, photos, notes, or any personally identifiable information.

If you wish to opt out of crash reporting, please contact us and we will accommodate your request.

Purchase Data

We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat processes:

  • An anonymous device identifier (not linked to your name or email)
  • Transaction records (product identifier, date, price)
  • Entitlement status (whether premium features are unlocked)

RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, or any personally identifying information from the App.

Analytics

We use PostHog (hosted in the European Union) to collect anonymous usage analytics. Analytics data may include:

  • A random, anonymous identifier generated per app install (not linked to your identity)
  • Device model, operating system version, and app version
  • App interaction events (e.g., features used, screens viewed)
  • General preferences set within the App (e.g., experience level)

Analytics data does not include your plant data, photos, notes, name, email address, IP address, or Apple advertising identifier (IDFA).

You can disable analytics at any time in the App's settings. Disabling analytics stops all future data collection and clears the anonymous identifier from your device.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicit about what we do not do:

  • We do not create user accounts or require any login
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personal identifiers
  • We do not use behavioral profiling, cross-app tracking, or advertising-based analytics
  • We do not display advertisements or use advertising SDKs
  • We do not access your location or use location services
  • We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your data with any third party
  • We do not access your device camera (the App uses Apple's photo picker, which grants access only to photos you explicitly select)

4. How We Use Information

  • Data you create is used solely to provide the App's functionality to you
  • iCloud sync allows you to access your data across your own Apple devices
  • Crash reports are used solely to identify and fix bugs and improve App stability
  • Purchase data is used solely to manage your purchase and unlock premium features
  • Analytics data is used solely to understand how the App is used and to improve features and user experience

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose other than providing and improving the App.

Legal basis (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing is (a) performance of a contract — providing the App functionality you requested — under Article 6(1)(b), and (b) legitimate interest in maintaining App stability via crash reporting and improving the App via anonymous analytics under Article 6(1)(f).

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

The following third-party services receive limited, non-identifying data as described above:

Apple processes your iCloud data as a separate data controller under Apple's own privacy policy. Sentry, RevenueCat, and PostHog act as data processors on our behalf and are bound by their respective privacy policies.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local data remains on your device until you delete individual items within the App or delete the App itself. Deleting the App permanently removes all local data.
  • iCloud data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it through the App or disable iCloud for the App in your device settings.
  • Crash reports are retained by Sentry according to their data retention policies.
  • Purchase records are retained by RevenueCat according to their data retention policies.
  • Analytics data is retained by PostHog according to their data retention policies.

Because we do not maintain user accounts or servers, we do not independently retain your personal data. You have full control over your data at all times through your device and iCloud settings.

7. Your Rights

All Users

You can delete your data at any time by removing items within the App or by deleting the App from your device. You may contact us at any time with questions about your data.

EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Because your data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account, you can exercise most of these rights directly without contacting us. If you need assistance, please contact us at the email below.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing the App.

8. Data Security

Your local data is protected by your device's built-in security features, including passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and hardware encryption at rest. iCloud data is encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest. Third-party service providers (Sentry, RevenueCat, PostHog) maintain their own security measures as described in their respective privacy policies.

While we implement reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us at [email protected] and we will promptly address your concerns.

10. International Data Transfers

Crash reports (Sentry) and purchase records (RevenueCat) may be processed in the United States or other countries outside your own. Analytics data (PostHog) is processed and stored in the European Union. These transfers are necessary for the provision of the service. Apple's iCloud infrastructure may store data in various countries in accordance with Apple's policies.

By using the App, you acknowledge that limited technical data (crash reports, anonymous purchase records, and anonymous analytics data) may be processed in countries outside your own. Analytics data is processed within the European Union; crash reports and purchase records may be processed in the United States.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
